Freezing Photography!

08/02/12
Winter 2011/2012 has been a mostly mild affair. Certainly, at least in the south-east of Britain where I live, the temperture has often been in balmy double figures, which I imagine has suited most rational people!
The sudden arrival of a Siberian cold air mass, which has pushed its way right across Russia and Europe, and then thrust itself over the English Channel to British shores, has been an exciting arrival for me though. Snow, hoar frost, mist, and ice have all been welcomed by me with my arms wide open. The chance for some freezing winter photography at last!
Alas, I have only limited time to enjoy my passion for photography (i.e. the weekend). So when it snowed heavily on Saturday, 05/02/2012, I became very excited. Following a full evening and night of icy precipitation, the whole of the East of England was left with a six inch thick clean, white duvet - all thanks to an Atlantic rain front colliding with the frigid Siberian air. I had all of Sunday to enjoy a blanc view of the everyday surroundings, which look quite beautiful in its covering of snow, as always the case in such weather.
Thus far I've managed to create a couple of photographs of the prevailing winter conditions, including one that involved standing ankle deep in the icy River Stort! Thank goodness for warm wooly socks!
Please visit my 'latest work' gallery to take a look.
The freezing conditions are forecast to last for several more days yet, so wrap up warmly everyone!
